New to Scotland's People? Try a taster session.

The New Year sees the return of our popular beginner's Scotland's People taster sessions. They will be held on the third Thursday of February, March and April. In addition to these sessions, which are designed to introduce new users to the premier Scottish family history resource, there will be an opportunity to explore some of the Archive's other resources and enjoy a cup of coffee.

The dates are:

The sessions run between 2pm-4pm and each session must be booked in advance. To book a session please contact Angus Archives on 01307 468644 or email us at angus.archives@angus.gov.uk

New Photo Galleries

Angus Archives is please to announce a new and improved Photo Gallery, featuring all of the former burghs of Angus. The Angus Photographic Collection is extensive and the work of cataloguing and scanning each individual photograph is well underway. The Galleries are intended as tasters of the collection as a whole. We hope you will enjoy browsing. Further additions to the Galleries will be made as material is scanned and made available. The Galleries are presented as PDF files of thumbnail images. Some Galleries are large, especially the Brechin Gallery, and may take a few minutes to load, so please be patient.

In addition, we have added a Featured Photograph and Mystery Photograph where we would welcome some assistance in identification.

Donations of new material, original or copies, are always welcome. We are also happy to receive further information concerning the content of photographs and the identification of individuals to add to the catalogue.

Copies of photographs may be purchased.

As seen in...

The February edition of Who Do You Think You Are Magazine contains a guide to researching ancestors from Angus. The cover disc includes resources contributed by Angus Archives including the surname index to Arbroath newspapers, the Brechin Guildry Court Case of the 1820s, historic photographs and images of documents.
